5 Tips for Working from Home like a Royal

Over the past few weeks, the Royal Family has shared images of The Firm (if you know, you know) working from home. ROYALS. They’re just like us.

If you’re also working at home under the current quarantine, you’re in good company. While we’ve had some time to settle in to this “new normal” you may also be finding yourself settling in a slump.

Is it just me, or is anyone else feeling a little Groundhogs Day-ish?

  1. MAKE AN EFFORT and keep it simple. Take a note from the Duchess of Cambridge who is sporting light makeup, buffed nails, and a simple suit as she takes calls from her private office. The Duchess is perfectly put together to balance work and homeschooling the little Princes and Princess.

  2. USE WHAT YOU HAVE and make it work. The Prince of Wales created a makeshift iPad stand using a crate, a book and a ream of printer paper in order to achieve the most flattering angle for his remote broadcast. You have permission to use what you have and make it work. Don’t feel the need to invest in extra equipment!

  3. CREATE A PLAN and stick to a routine. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently released an overview of how they plan to continue fulfilling their duties while staying at home. They have proven to be staunch supporters of the NHS and continue to lead by example. Creating a daily routine, including breaks where you can exercise your body and mind, will help keep you both motivated and productive.

  4. FIND NEW WAYS to stay relevant. Whether it’s by offering virtual courses, digital trainings or connecting via FaceTime, consider how you can use this time to build new relationships, expand your network and keep your team or clients engaged.

  5. LET YOUR PERSONALITY SHINE. Her Majesty the Queen is dutifully serving the Commonwealth from Windsor Castle and this rare glimpse into her private office gives us a peek into her love for corgis. Set your camera up in an area with good lighting and a pleasant background that let’s your personality shine through.

If the Royal family can adapt and keep motivated, so can the rest of us!
